As a nurse, I am aware of the science behind birth. However, as a first-time mom, Fuschia gave me new insight and helped me to think about my birth plan. Fuschia gave a great presentation on the stages of labor and helped me to recognize when each stage is and what interventions are available at each stage. She also helped me to feel empowered in knowing that I have choices in my labor and delivery process as well as some of the implications that each choice can have on my baby.

I never thought about the many different options/pathways one can take during labor and delivery, so it was very helpful having it laid out in front of me to assess. Fuschia carefully went through each topic and discussed pros/cons. I did not feel judged or coerced when I sometimes picked options that weren’t as holistic. Fuschia also helped me to realize that there are some areas where I can start with the least invasive interventions first and then escalate if needed. Overall I am feeling more confident about voicing my preferences to my medical team when the occasion arises.
