My journey as a doula began long before I truly understood what a doula was. It started with my personal quest for healing and self-care while living in Santa Barbara, where I first learned to reconnect with my mind, body, and soul. It was during this time that I began working with a life coach, and through deep revelations, I realized I had been disconnected from my own cycle, my body, and ultimately, the powerful connection between women and the divine.

 

One night, I found myself at a women’s wellness event hosted by an apothecary. That evening changed everything. I was exposed to the deep history of obstetrics and gynecology, which both shocked and saddened me. Learning about the ways in which Black women were mistreated and exploited in the name of medical advancements tore at my heart. It opened my eyes to how our bodies, cycles, and experiences have been framed in ways that disconnect us from our natural power. But it also set me on a path to reclaim that power, to understand my body and my cycle in new ways, and to lean into the wisdom of our ancestors.

 

I started seeing the bigger picture: I wasn’t just on this journey for myself. I was meant to help activate and uplift other women, particularly Black women, who have been craving the kind of connection and healing that comes from understanding our bodies, histories, and spiritual paths. This call would only become more evident as time went on, and it is what led me down the path of becoming a certified doula and birth coach. After receiving my certification as a licensed doula, I was able to support my first client, and best friend through the birth and postpartum journey of her daughter. It was an experience that forever marked me and the trajectory of my calling.

 

Lunar Lotus Birth Support is the manifestation of my passion to empower women during one of the most transformative times of their lives. I am here to be an advocate, a guide, and a source of strength for others as they step into parenthood.
